Abstract
Soft x-ray diffraction was used for investigating the use of gold nanoballs as reference objects for Fourier transform holography (FTH). It was found that the holograms were deconvoluted against ball reference objects to invert to images, in combination with a Wiener filter to control noise. The discontinuity, which was observed at the beam stop, in the holograms had produced spurious structure that interfered with the true image. These effects were minimized by replacing the missing data with a smooth function such as a Gaussian.
