Abstract
Two-point space-time pressure-velocity correlations have been measured in the near field of a round jet flow with a stationary velocity probe and a moving pressure transducer. The correlations show the downstream translation of the vortices, and the physical mechanisms responsible for the behavior of the correlations are identified. Conditional averages of pressure fluctuations given the state of the velocity fluctuation was also obtained. A linear estimation model, which utilizes the space-time correlations to estimate the conditional averages, agrees very well with the measured data.
