Abstract

The simulations of Matyushov and Ladanyi of the solvent—solute distribution functions of hard sphere mixtures at low concentrations of the large spheres are extended to large solute diameters (4 ≤ d 22/d 11 ≤ 20) and are compared with the formula of Henderson and Chan and the extension to mixtures of the well known Boublik—Mansoori—Carnahan—Starling—Leland (BMCSL) formula. Contrary to a recent study, the Henderson—Chan formula is found to be accurate and an improvement to the BMCSL formula.
