Abstract
Twenty-four recruiters conducted interviews with 91 students to explore the factors recruiters use in making both an assessment of an applicant's interviewing skills and suitability for hire. Predictors included in analyses consisted of three factor analytically derived scales, an attraction scale, an index of gender similarity, and applicant sex. Both criteria were significantly predicted by interview impression and attraction. Implications for organizational selection processes and recommendations for future research are discussed.
