Abstract
The emission from InSb at 77 K with applied d.c. electric and magnetic fields is related to high fields occurring principally in the contact-adjacent region. These fields are sufficiently high to initiate negative differential mobility, thereby causing Gunn-type domain formation. We believe that these incompletely formed domains may be the source of the noise emission.
