Abstract
In this paper, two new self-assembly chiral liquid crystals which interact through intermolecular hydrogen bonding between 4-[(S)-2-chloro-3-methyl]butanoyloxy-4′-stilbazole and 4-alkoxy-benzoic acids (nBA, n = 5,6) were investigated at different temperatures by using temperature-dependent Fourier transform infrared spectra. The results show that the ester carbonyl groups are very sensitive to the crystal-liquid crystal transitions, and the results also show that the intermolecular hydrogen bonding is stable in the crystal and liquid-crystal states, but decreases greatly when temperatures are higher than their clearing points.
