Abstract
This presentation describes the wide variety of both rapid turn-around (tactical) and much longer timescale (strategic) data analysis methods used in the planning and interpretation of data sets acquired from the seven successful (so far) Mars surface landers and rovers that have carried multispectral imaging instruments employing narrowband color filters. Examples of science and operational results enabled by these data analysis methods are discussed, including recent advances in multispectral image analysis using deep learning. Finally, implications for the expected results from several additional surface missions carrying narrowband multispectral imaging investigations and expected to land on Mars in 2021 are also discussed.
