Abstract

The formation of mesoporous silicate/aluminosilicate materials was illustrated by two models. The first model assumed the polymerization of silica around a water surfactant liquid crystal phase while the second model proposed that the polymerization of the silica dictates the ordering of the surfactants in a co-assembly fashion. The procedure for preparing cubic surfactant silicates was also presented. The cubic surfactant-silicates were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy.
