Abstract

This report describes empirical studies of economic aspects of the electric power industry. It includes a general description of the industry, a discussion of the concept of aggregation, and summaries of studies of generation, transmission, and distribution. In addition, the report discusses the economic theory of production technology, including derived demands, technical change and duality, and the economic characteristics of the process technologies of generation, transmission, and distribution. Finally, industry supply models and informal price models are reviewed and critiqued. Refs.
