Abstract
The level structure of Sc48 has been investigated in the reaction Ca48(He3,t)Sc48 at E(He3)=23 MeV. Angular distributions for the (νf72-1πf72) states have been measured from 10 to 90° in 5° steps and from 100 to 140° in 10° steps with a split-pole spectrograph and compared with microscopic distorted-wave calculations (including a tensor force for the transitions into states having odd angular momentum J). In addition, a number of strongly excited states are seen at and above 3-MeV excitation energy, and angular distributions for these have been taken from 10 to 50° in 5° steps. Comparison with distorted-wave calculations suggests several candidates for states belonging to odd-parity multiplets, which would be expected in this region of excitation from the configurations (s12-1f72) and (d32-1f72). Possible candidates for the expected even-parity states belonging to (f72-1p32) and (f72-1f52) are also tentatively identified.
