The concept of using molecules as small electronic components with outline for molecular rectifier is discussed. The gold nanoparticles (NP) suspended in solution are incubated with film which finds protruding thiol groups by diffusion. These NPs are better targets for probe of conducting atomic force microscope (CAFM). In alkane dithiols, the peaks in distribution of conductance plateaus are separated by exact multiples of known single-molecule conductance. The CAFM is also used to measure force between probe and surface at conductance plateaus.
