Rotor modulation of helicopter antenna characteristics

The rotor modulation on the gain and input impedance of a 14-ft high-frequency (HF) loop antenna mounted on the tail boom of a scaled helicopter model was studied. The frequency range of interest was 2 to 12 MHz. Results confirm that rotor modulation on the gain of the antenna is significant for frequencies where the total length of the rotor blades becomes half-a-wavelength.
