N2 - Piezoelectric (PE) acoustic emission sensors were exposed to hundreds of kGy from Co-60 gamma rays. Specifically, Digital Wave sensor models B1025, B1025LD and B1080 were irradiated to doses of 829 kGy, 414 kGy and 318 kGy, respectively. The PE material employed in all three models is lead metaniobate. The sensors did not show any catastrophic failure up to the exposure levels tested. Recalibration of the sensors showed no degradation of their frequency response. The sensor sensitivity appears to decrease linearly by about 8.4% per 100 kGy.
