Abstract
The applications of molecular design in different areas of interest is discussed. Four main areas of interest have been identified that include living and controlled polymerization, multiple hydrogen bonding in supramolecular assemblies, nanocomposites and biomaterials. It is found that the ability to control both polymer structure and functionality enables the synthesis of well-defined macromolecules that may be used in a variety of advanced applications such as nanocomposites and biomaterials. It is believed that the number and complexity of potential applications will continue to grow with a better understanding of these macromolecular design strategies.
