Abstract
The absolute intensity emitted from the PPT plume was obtained experimentally and theoretically after identifying radiating species from the quantitative spectroscopic measurements in the 400 to 700 nm range. Intensity values from a zeroth order model of a cylindrical shape plasma with spatially and temporally uniform temperature and density are compared to experimental data to show that the trends are captured, but with a discrepancy of about an order of magnitude. The radiant energy emitted from the PPT plume was evaluated from simple geometrical analysis using the intensity values. The estimated radiant energy was at most 2 to 3 % of the input energy.
