Abstract
A series of intermolecular hydrogen bonded liquid crystals between 2-cyano-3-[4-(2-chloro-3-methyl-1-butanoyloxy)]-phenyl acrylic acid (A) and N-(4-pyridylmethylidene) anilines (nSSZ) were prepared and investigated by DSC, polarizing microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that these complexes exhibited smectic A phases.
