Abstract

• Photocatalytic nitrate treatment of ion exchange brines ◆ Proof of concept has been demonstrated ◆Requires managing sulfate levels ◆Could significantly extend life of brine ◆Competitive with biological denitrification of brines • We are exploring new catalysts which may be suitable for drinking water directly (no IX required) • We have proof of concept data that photocatalytic reduction works too for: ◆Conversion of hexavalent Cr to Cr(III) ◆Conversion of bromate to bromide.
