N2 - Triaxially braided composites are nearly quasi-isotropic elastically, and under elevated conditions, exhibit anisotropic behavior at failure. The tensile, compressive, and shear responses of triaxially braided composites were tested at room temperature, hot, and hot-wet conditions, using digital image correlation system. The results indicated a reduction in the transverse tensile strength when compared to the axial tension, with only a minimal reduction in the transverse tensile modulus. A comparison of room temperature, hot, and hot-wet results showed a decrease in both modulus and strength. When exposed to hot and wet environmental conditions, the largest effect seen was a decrease in strength of the axial tension, axial compression, and transverse compression responses.
