Abstract
This paper describes a software package called PASSIVE 1-2-3, which attempts to build a coherent microcomputer environment for passive solar design. The core of PASSIVE 1-2-3 uses the well known Solar Load Ratio method and an hourly thermal network simulation for analysis, while its input/output utilizes a number of innovative features. The appropriateness of PASSIVE 1-2-3 is illustrated by an example of how it might be used in the design process. Future developments that further increase the power of the concept outlined in this paper are also discussed.
