Abstract
High-resolution transmission electron microscopy images of crystals consisting largely of C60 molecules ("buckminsterfullerene") show that they form close-packed arrays. Domains containing closed-cage structural relatives of C60 ("fullerenes") that are both smaller and significantly larger than C60 are evident. The larger fullerenes have the projected shapes of elongated ellipsoids, some of which we estimate to contain over 100 carbon atoms.
