The Zeeman effect in the 17.62-X3110) band system of tungsten monocarbide, WC, has been recorded and analyzed. Magnetic tuning of the spectral features recorded at high resolution (full width at half maximum 35 MHz) and at field strengths of 1101 and 2230 G are accurately modeled using an effective Zeeman Hamiltonian. The observed spectra were fit to produce g el -factors for the X31 0) and 17.62( 1) states. The observed gel-factors are discussed in terms of the proposed electronic state distribution.
