Abstract
New experimental techniques for the measurement of instantaneous velocity vector fields over extended regions of unsteady, single and multiple phase flows are currently under development. The need to perform simultaneous field measurements derives from the study of coherent structures in turbulent flow research and from many practical problems in which quantitative visualizations of the entire flow fields are needed to pin-point the important features of the flows.
