N2 - In conventional monostatic synthetic aperture radar system, it is difficult to detect moving target in clutter background. In this paper, a new algorithm called sub-aperture image cancellation is proposed for moving target detection. In this algorithm, based on Doppler parameters of stationary background, a matched function band is designed for sub-aperture imaging. The sub-aperture images are cancelled to eliminate the clutters from background. By azimuth-direction summation of cancelled images, the energy of moving target is accumulated and the variance of noise is reduced. Two thresholds are used to implement constant false alarm rate to detect moving target The algorithm is verified by RADARSAT-I data. Some moving targets are found in sub-aperture image.
