N2 - This paper presents a methodology for determining the existence of delaminations in complex composite structures. The changes in damage features due to changing temperature are investigated. A Lamb wave based active damage detection technique is used. The Matching Pursuit Decomposition (MPD), a time frequency based signal processing technique, is used for feature extraction. The signals from two different test structures, a healthy specimen and a specimen with seeded delamination, are compared to incorporate the effect of manufacturing variability. Tests are conducted under varying ambient temperature. The results obtained validate the effectiveness of this approach in detecting delamination.
