Interfacing pavement management and design process

Abstract

Pavement management systems coordinate all the activities required to provide pavements for the traveling public in a cost efficient manner. Information for the pavement management system comes from a wide variety of divisions and departments within the highway agency. The Arizona Department of Transportation sponsored the development of a microcomputer based procedure to give pavement designers automatic access to the databases required for pavement rehabilitation design. These databases interface with the design analysis programs to permit the programs to access the required data with minimal input from the design engineer.
