Abstract

The open-wye and open-delta connections are examined for service to converters. A simulation of rectifier service is shown, and the harmonic impact of these configurations (on the ac grid) is discussed. It is found that uncharacteristic harmonics and imbalanced conditions may be present using these connections. The frequency spectrum of the phase currents, however, is shifted downward, which generally results in lower telephone influence factor.
