Abstract

We describe the theoretical rationale, design features, and potential implications of the Augmented Reality (AR) simulation we are developing called GuARdians of Tomorrow. In this simulation, users experience ramifications of sustainability-related issues by hypothesizing, testing, and perceiving threats of current action (and inaction) on local environmental context in the future through AR. This work will lead to productive discussions about theory-based simulation design for situating long-term, macro impacts of sustainable development into students’ local contexts.
