Abstract
Meter intended to provide solution to problem of estimating arc energy in contact gaps is described; it also offers possibilities in judging and comparing effectiveness of contact protection devices; through long series of tests, reference charts on suitability of different protection circuits may be compiled by utilizing measured arc energy; for quick and direct appraisal of any new protection circuit only few tests will be ncessary; in field of high voltage circuit breaking, important application of meter could be to measure energy associated with opening of circuit breaker.
