Although some data on the composition of metamorphic fluids may be obtained from hot-springs and from fluid inclusions, the relationship between the chemical potentials of components in a system at chemical equilibrium enables the fluid composition to be estimated from mineral equilibria. To quantitatively estimate fluid composition, accurate estimates of P and T are needed. The concentration of C-O-H-S species in metamorphic fluids is reviewed. -R.A.H.
