Abstract
Presentation of Case A 46-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of abdominal pain. She was well until the morning of admission, when she experienced the abrupt onset of diffuse abdominal pain, without nausea or vomiting. She passed a normal stool that morning. She was brought to the hospital. The patient was a native of Canada and was married, with one child. There was a history of an abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and incidental appendectomy, performed 15 years earlier because of an ovarian cyst.
