Abstract
The profession of architecture is changing to meet the demands of our planet and society. The way professionals finance, plan, design, build, and maintain the building environment is not the same as it was 10, 20, or 30 years ago. To better prepare students faculty must begin to rethink the means of teaching and learning. The Center of Building Innovation (CoBI) at Arizona State University will bring together students and faculty from all disciplinary units related to the built environment at ASU into one center. The long-term thinking is that this could be a way to model a better academic unit that makes the current one obsolete. This essay outlines the intention and rationale of CoBI at ASU.
