Abstract

The essay you are about to read is the result of Black Love. It is a creation of and a testament to Black kinship. Beginning as a series of communions among Black friends, the time spent crafting the idea was filled with laughter and comfort. We shared stories about how we’ve been loved, missed love, loved any(way) and otherwise. And from that space we weaved an essay textured by a Black-rooted existence in the world. BlackLove Stories is a love offering shaped collectively and insurgently, an indictment against imperialist individualism and toxic white culture camouflaged as “normal.” Everything about this project and its completion has been Black life-giving, freedom labor. We hope you are able to receive it as a gift.
