Abstract

A variant of conventional spatial interpolation is the problem of estimating aggregate statistics for one set of regions from comparable statistics for another set which do not necessarily respect the boundaries of the first. The paper discusses the properties of a technique of areal interpolation based on the use of areas of intersection as weights. The results are compared to those of several other methods, and illustrated with a case study. - Authors
