Abstract
Both gallic acid and methyl gallate have been isolated from Rhus coriaria. The presence of gallic acid was also uncovered during a study of Rhus trichocarpa. Interestingly, a tannin believed to be a tri O galloyl D glucose has recently been found to be the active antineoplastic agent of Calycogonium squamulosum (Melastomataceae). Also the authors have identified gallic acid as a cytotoxic component of Oenothera caespitosa (Onagraceae).
