Abstract

Despite the rapid advances in development of parallel processing systems in recent years, the progress in software development to effectively utilize the parallel processing systems has been relatively slow. In this paper, an object-oriented approach to software development for parallel processing systems is presented. This approach is based on a computation model which incorporates the functional paradigm in the objectoriented paradigm and allows exploitation of massive parallelism without sacrificing the effectiveness of the object-oriented paradigm. The issues related to the development processes are discussed.
