Abstract
A theoretical study of the adiabatic reaction of electron transfer from a metal electrode to an acceptor level in a polar liquid is presented. The Gibbs energy of the electrochemical system along the electron transfer coordinate has been obtained at all values of the overlap of the metal and acceptor electronic states, over a wide range of the electrode overpotentials. The electron transfer probability has been calculated at high and low activation barriers of the reaction.
