Child Care Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Child Care Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Arizona State University (ASU) will use CCAMPIS program funds for a child care subsidy and emergency child care fund. The project includes a sliding fee scale for student parents using the subsidy. ASU was a recipient of a Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Grant, from 2001 - 2009. The child care subsidy will provide for greater access and affordability for on campus child care. Low income student parents eligible for a child care subsidy will benefit from the opportunity to enroll their children in a campus based center. ASU's child development centers included in the project are the Campus Childrens Center, Child Development Lab, and the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education Preschool. The subsidy will also support student parents who are enrolled at Next Horizons Child Development Center, an off- campus center that has a contract with the university. Students who experience a sudden, unpredictable situation, such as job loss or catastrophic illness, find that this drain on their finances means they fall behind in their child care payment. The emergency child care fund will aid low-income student parent families, whose inability to pay for child care often results in their getting behind in classes and/or dropping out of school. The emergency fund and the child care subsidy will support student parents in their academic coursework and help them to successfully graduate from ASU.
