Description
The University Office of Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness (UOEEE) promotes educational effectiveness by providing expert programs, resources, and services in social science research and evaluation, outcomes assessment, testing and measurement, and teaching and learning for the university and its constituents. While most of our services to the University are provided free of charge, selected services are part of our recharge center function and have associated fees and rates. Please contact our office to discuss your needs.
Research and Evaluation
UOEEE's Research and Evaluation Unit can fill a variety of evaluation roles from external consultants to guide internal evaluation activities to running full service evaluations. The leadership of UOEEE has extensive experience in the field of program evaluation and has worked with a range of clients including the United States Department of Education, National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and U.S. Agency for International Development.
Examples of evaluation services include:
Development of evaluation section for grant proposals
Monitoring program goals
Measuring program outcomes
Small scale evaluation of programs
Full scale evaluation of programs
Social science research planning, data collection, and reporting
UOEEE is uniquely positioned to provide evaluation assistance and to serve in an independent evaluation capacity for externally funded programs and grants. We can develop evaluation plans, research and evaluation instruments, collect quantitative and qualitative data, and provide high quality reports to clients.
Testing and Scanning
UOEEE's University Testing and Scanning Services (UTSS) administers computer- and paper-based examinations. UTSS also provides accurate and timely optical-mark-reader scanning for classroom examinations, instructor evaluations, and research data processing.
A more detailed list of these services includes the following:
Receipt, inventory, secure storage, and return of testing materials
Administrative support for scheduling exams
Making arrangements for appropriate facilities for the administration of tests
Quiet, well-lit testing rooms with limited distractions
Desks with large surface areas and dividers between the examinees
Computers appropriately configured for the delivery of a wide variety of computer-based exams
Well-trained, professional staff to administer exams
Strict adherence to high standards of test administration
Examinees are positively identified on the basis of current, valid, photo ID
Staff monitor examinees at all times in the testing room or through audio/visual equipment and viewing windows (when available)
Careful adherence to testing rules
Accurate timing on exams
Answer sheet scanning and score reporting services available in many instances
