Abstract
The main problem with such an ad is that it sets the stage for a drama whose main character is likely to become a Joan of Arc of writing administration. Everyone may admire the lead player's lofty goals and perseverance. But very few members of Dr. Arc's promotion and tenure committee-who will be looking for excellence in scholarship and teaching-will find that her significant administrative work warrants tenure.
