Abstract
The development and validation of robust and reliable large eddy simulation (LES) models make special demands on available turbulence data. Such a model minimizes the error in the evolution of the resolved field, and reproduces the exact large-separation multipoint statistics. The specifics of the data requirements are discussed along with the some ideas on how they might be met using current experiment techniques.
