Abstract

Impinging and effervescent injectors are used in air-breathing and rocket propulsion systems. As with other injection geometries, models exist to predict drop size. However, current work is an extension of a theoretical basis involving integral form of conservation equations, to these injection processes. By casting the momentum and viscous dissipation terms, the analysis leads to predictions of the drop size and distributions, which agree with experimental data. This approach can thus be used to determine the drop size, and also embedded as a primary atomization module in computational framework, similar to our previous studies.
