Abstract
Analysis of the optical Stark spectra for the low rotational branch features of the (0,0) F2Σ+←X2Σ+ band system was performed. The determined permanent electric dipole moment of RuN(X2Σ+) is surpassingly small when compared with RuC(X1Σ+) and inconsistent with simple electronegativity arguments. The reduction of μ(F2Σ+) compared with μ(X2Σ+) is consistent with the proposed nature of the electronic wave functions but appears to be at odds with the observed small hyperfine structure in the F2Σ+ state.
