Abstract

Video is an important and challenging medium and requires sophisticated indexing schemes for efficient retrieval from visual databases. Video segmentation is a fundamental step in video indexing and involves detection of scene changes. In this paper, we propose a fast and robust algorithm for detecting video shot boundaries in the MPEG-2 compressed bit stream with minimal decoding.
