Abstract
Powder consumption and melting rates of continuous casting fluxes were determined. A much thicker film of liquid slag was needed for casting slabs than for casting thin slabs and billets. Much higher melting rates were needed for slabs and thin slabs than for billets and blooms. It was found that the break temperature Tbr values used for thin slabs were 100 K higher than those used for thin slabs.
