Effective process control of various types of processing plants is critical to both the manufacturing efficiency and consistency of product quality. For this purpose, a system of accurate sensors and real time software analysis can accomplish that objective. However, due to uncontrollable fluctuations and response times, there are limitations in the degree of control that can be attained.Researchers at Arizona State University have devised a new type of event-driven control software that, through the use of external inputs in a closed loop, allows control action resulting from data received from an external device. The program also logs data from all devices and easily permits the addition of new devices. The software will help insure the smooth running of virtually any process and can be expected to improve the process for better & more consistent product quality and reduced operating costs as a result of higher efficiencies.
