Abstract

Needs assessment refers to the processes and methods used by evaluators or managers to identify and describe the social needs that a program is intended to address. It is also an important tool to help improve the performance of an organization or a program. In an era of performance management, nonprofit organizations have been increasingly relying on evaluation tools to improve their performances and program impacts. One of the commonly used evaluation tools is needs assessment. Needs assessment refers to the processes and methods used by evaluators or managers to identify and describe the social needs that a program is intended to address, which should be closely related to the organization’s mission and vision. Needs assessment is also an important tool to help improve the performance of a nonprofit organization and its programs.
