Multitype interference suppression in multiuser fast fading DSSS wireless channels

Abstract

Wireless communication channels in fast fading environments can distort the transmitted signal severely, especially in the presence of other interferences such as multiple access and jamming. In this paper, we propose a multitype interference suppression scheme for fast fading direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) systems. The overall receiver structure is aimed to reduce these impairments using time-varying processing techniques integrated with an orthonormal-basis minimum mean square estimator with time-frequency diversity. Using simulations, we compare the proposed receiver with existing multiuser detectors, and demonstrate its simpler implementation and improved performance.
