This chapter reports on the development of an applied model of internal migration in the UK to support central government policy making. A two-stage modelling procedure was developed and parameters calibrated on a time series of historical data. Details of the data sets and the modelling are presented, together with illustration of the software package named MIGMOD that was constructed as a planning support system to assist government officials in predicting the impact of alternative scenarios.
