Abstract

The SCT-75 is a structured sentence completion test containing scales to assess three aspects of misrepresentation during psychological/psychiatric evaluation in a personal injury context: injury enhancement, angry life-difficulty exaggeration, and virtue enhancement. The present study evaluated the ability of these scales to add incremental validity beyond what could be obtained from relevant scales of the MMPI-2. Criteria to be predicted included total number of prescribed medications, involvement in litigation, and admission/denial of present and past substance abuse. As expected, inclusion of the SCT-75 scales resulted in improved correlations for one or more criterion variables.
