Abstract
The glass formation region and the electrical conductivities of glasses in the PbF2 MnF2 Pb(PO3)2 system are reported. A glass with composition 45PbF2-45MnF210Pb(PO3)2 shows maximum anion conductivity ≈ 4 × 10-4 (Ω-cm)-1 at 200°C. Conductivity maxima observed, with composition variation, for these glasses have been explained by a displacement mechanism between Mn2+ and Pb2+ which in turn promotes fluoride anion mobility. Electrical relaxation characteristics have been studied by modulas spectroscopy and the departure from exponential relaxation has been correlated with the activation energy for conductivity.
